Why did you choose to get into hairdressing? To be honest I just earned myself a part time job working weekends in a small salon to get me through my school years. I soon realised I had developed a real passion for hair. I worked all through school and college for seven years. I also did a two year City & Guilds hairdressing course in l.S.C. After that I joined Bellissimo in January 2006. I trained here on the floor for 3 years as a junior and was subsequently moved up to a Graduate Stylist. At this stage I had gained a wealth of experience, so I moved quickly through the ranks and I’m now a senior stylist about five years…I must say I love my job, the building, the girls & guys I work with and people that walk through the door – we’re like one big happy family!
What aspect of hairdressing are you most passionate about? I just love the hair industry; creating new ideas & styles. I also love the fashion that comes with hairdressing, nothing better than fab hair and fab style – I’m known as Jen the Red, so you’ve probably guessed that I have a bold, stand out style on the salon floor ha ha
Who in the industry do you admire? I absolutely love Patrick Cameron – I think he’s an amazing upstylist. I love Vidal Sassoon – I think he’s a genius. I also admire a lot of ourselves in the Bellissimo team… we’re a very creative bunch and would put our hands to anything.
Whose celebrity style do you admire? I always love Jennifer Aniston’s style, especially her hair – it’s always flawless! The colour is actually very suitable for a lot of clients. I also really admire Madonna and Pink – I love their edginess…
What is your favourite part of your job? I really enjoy getting involved with a client who wants a whole new look, when you really nail the look they were aiming for – that’s what really makes me love my job. Waving goodbye to happy client, knowing they are feeling amazing and I was able to help with that.
What is your favourite product to work with? I absolutely love all Moroccanoil products especially Curl Cream and Glimmer Spray. I also love Wella’s Texture Touch – it gives great definition for gents and short styles.
